What a safe lesson looks like

Every Arcstone lesson is built to be safe by default.

• Lessons happen in our own video room in your browser — not on a tutor’s personal Zoom, phone, or social media.
• Every tutor is identity-checked and referenced before they can teach, and you can ask for a DBS-checked tutor.
• Cameras stay on for the whole lesson, and both people are in an appropriate, non-private space.
• All communication happens on the platform, where it is monitored for anything that shouldn’t be there — tutors never contact your child through any other channel.
• Lessons aren’t recorded, but the in-lesson chat and any worksheets shared are kept as a safety record our safeguarding lead can review.

Being nearby helps

You don’t have to sit in on the lesson, but staying within reach adds a layer of safety — especially for younger children.

• Set lessons up in a family space, like a living room or kitchen, rather than a bedroom.
• Be contactable and nearby, and feel free to drop in at any time — a good tutor will always welcome it.
• Check in with your child afterwards about how the lesson went.

What your tutor will and won’t do

It helps to know what is normal, so anything that isn’t stands out.

• Your tutor WILL teach on the platform, keep to the lesson, and message you through Arcstone.
• Your tutor will NOT ask you or your child for personal contact details, or to move to WhatsApp, email, or social media.
• Your tutor will NOT arrange to meet your child in person, or contact them privately outside a lesson.
• Your tutor will NEVER ask your child to keep a secret from you. If anything like this happens, please tell us.

Talking to your child

A few simple things you can say to your child before they start:

• You can end a lesson or turn to me at any time if something doesn’t feel right.
• A tutor should never ask you to keep secrets, or to talk anywhere other than the Arcstone lesson.
• It’s always okay to tell me if a lesson made you feel uncomfortable, even if you’re not sure why.

Reporting a concern

Inside the app, every message has a Report option — one tap sends it straight to our safeguarding team, and the message is preserved even if it’s later edited or deleted.
